BCA: Eligibility, Admission and Scope

Introduction

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) is a three-year undergraduate course for students aspiring for career in computer applications and software development. Various subjects are covered during the BCA programme such as Networking, JAVA, Oracle, Web Development, Basic and Advanced C language, Database Management, Data Structure, Object oriented Programming using C+++ etc. Available both as full time and distance courses, BCA offers several career options. Considered almost equivalent to BTech course, BCA has an upper edge of being 3-year programme whereas BTech is a 4-year programme. Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for BCA course are as follows:

• Students need to have an aggregate score of 50% or above in Class 12 in any stream (Arts, Science and Commerce). The minimum score may vary from college to college.
• Many colleges set 18 as the minimum age bar for admission to BCA course. There is no upper age limit for BCA course.
• Some colleges admit students on the basis of the score received in entrance test and personal interview.

• Students seeking admission for BCA course need to clear entrance test conducted at national or state level.
• Some universities such as GGSIPU conduct their own entrance tests.
